Purchase: My mom bought this saddle for me about 8 years ago, i think it was from a local feed store. I think she paid around $300 for it.
Likes: Its so comfortable! It had been well-loved when we got it, so it was already broken in and it has only gotten better with age. The fenders are the perfect size, and the rough out really helps you stick to the seat. The horn is only about three inches tall and leans slightly forward, so its not in your way like with some of the newer barrel saddles. The cantle is also not as dramatic, so its not in your way for regular riding. The dropped rigging wraps around your horse and really keeps it in place. It also fits everything, from my quarter horse mare to the Arab i used to ride to my two year old Paso Fino(and hes a real shrimp!) none of the variety of horses I ride have ever complained about this saddle, and it never leaves dry or sore spots. And since its not as exaggerated as the newer barrel saddles, i can team pen, trail ride, and even jump in it!
Dislikes: I wish the tooling was easier to clean, but then again it would probably help if I did it more often... anyways, the only thing I can't do in this saddle is teach sliding stops, but since that has nothing to do with barrel racing it doesn't really matter.
Quality: Fantastic! I couldn't live without it!
Summary: I just saw some of the negative reviews about the circle Y saddles and wanted to stand up for the older barrel saddles, if you ever get the chance to buy an old one definitely go for it!
