Purchase: I decided to go "name brand" since the jersey fly sheet i bought last year did not prevent my brown horse from being buckskin by september. i looked around, and found this one on horse.com for a reasonable price. now it is 69.99 but i bought it in the winter for 45.99.
Likes: a nicely built sheet, even for light fabric it seems durable, although my horse did not tear up the jersey sheet from last year either. it keeps him much cooler than if he were naked actually, his back is never warm even when it is 90s here. i prefer the lighter fabric to the PVC based sheets. they do not seem comfortable, and can rub at the wither area. this one lays nicely on him. it keeps him spotlessly clean! i barely have to run the brush over him before i ride! i love that. the cheaper jersey sheet seemed to hold the dust in.
Dislikes: it seems to run VERY large, and has rubbed one shoulder on my TB gelding. he typically wears a 78, but he could have gone with a 74-76. The top of the sheet faded almost instantly. he wears it 24/7 and i wonder how it can stop him from fading ( claims 75 percent) if it is not fade resistant. i really hate that it faded, and looks old, when it is only a few months old. disappointed in that for the brand and what they are selling it for now.
Quality: other than the fading, the sheet is made well. i like the fabric feel. has a belly band, and i like that, lag straps, and double buckle closure with velcro. has an optional neck piece ( i didn't buy). it does run a bit large, even for my bulkyish 16 hand TB. and has rubbed a place on his shoulder, i fixed it by stitching in a piece of fleece.
Summary: thought the spring haze was cute, and wouldn't show dirt, however, faded out instantly, and looks old and worn, even thought it is just a few months old. good construction, and so far my horse isn't fading, but time will tell. RUNS LARGE. unless you have a bull doggie QH or a big WB, i'd suggest going down a size or two!
