Purchase: I bought my saddle in 2001 direct from the manufacturer. I paid $850 (including tooling, padded seat, and girth, which were optional).
Likes: Eight years later, I still use the saddle daily. It has held up very well--the leather, stitching, rigging, and hardware are all original. I really like that the underside is sueded leather, so the saddle doesn't slip on the pad. Love the adjustable rigging. The flat seat allows me to position myself well going up and down hills. The saddle is lightweight and well balanced.
Dislikes: I wish the seat had a bit more padding. Since the seat is not at all deep, it's not a saddle for an insecure rider.
Quality: Very good quality leather on a ralide tree. Stirrup "leathers" and rigging are nylon. Mine is an endurance model--no horn. Ample d-rings for attaching breast collar, cantle bag, and all the accessories I use for competitive trail riding.
Summary: Since I bought my saddle, Frank Marciante has sold the business. I've had no dealings with the current owner, although I've heard (second hand) that the saddles are of very good quality.
