Purchase: Bought this saddle slightly used(2 times) for around 650.
Likes: I like the tooling and the comfortable seat. The saddle is comfortable for trail riding. Stirrups saddle came with are nice. The saddle is wide enough that it should fit a wide variety of horses.
Dislikes: I like the saddle but there are some things I was not expecting to be so poorly made. The saddle tree seemed to lean to one side a bit but not by much. The roughout is very thin and beware the fenders. The fenders are super thin and have nylon on the back of them. Even some cheap saddle i've rode in had better normal fenders. That's the thing I didn't expect and didn't like from Tex Tan. Only other thing about the saddle that isn't great is that the back sticks up a lot, so it's not very molded to the horses shape.
Quality: See above. I'm actually not a very picky person. I have owned many barrel saddles and would have to say it's not as well made as other saddles in the original 800+ price range for these saddles.
Summary: I like this saddle for general riding but I do not think I would trust it in a barrel run. I have a simco which I heard is worse quality than Tex Tan and some other medium of the rode in price saddles and they are much more heavy duty than this saddle for gaming. If you just do basic riding and short trail rides then this saddle will probably work for you or if you switch from english to the rare western ride. I do like the saddle but I am somewhat disappointed with Tex Tan.
