Purchase: I was looking for a dressage saddle to fit my high-withered mare. Trumbull Mountain had this saddle with the fitting options I needed for $2800.
Likes: My Tb x Wb mare is very hard to fit - she's a big-boned girl with huge withers; we're doing Prelim. eventing, and she's very lean and fit. Several fitters said she needed a narrow tree, but every narrow-treed saddle I tried sat pommel high and pinched her shoulders. I sent a template and photos to Trumbull Mountain, and they sent me a medium-wide Eden with K panels and a wither gusset. It sat nice and level on her back from the start, and the comfort of the saddle is just amazing. My mare's moving much more freely and comfortably, and I no longer have to struggle to maintain the correct position. Trumbull Mountain's customer service and week-long trial period are just the best!
Dislikes: The only "down side" to this saddle is that it's wool flocked, and needs to be adjusted periodically. But Trumbull gives you the first flocking adjustment for free, and will work with you long-distance via tracings and photos.
Quality: This is the most gorgeous saddle I've ever seen - WAY nicer than saddles that cost a lot more. The leather's substantial and soft - it feels broken in almost from the start - and the fit for both me and my mare is amazing.
Summary: This saddle is one of the nicest I've ever seen, and definitely the nicest I've ever ridden in. And I can't recommend Trumbull Mountain highly enough - their staff and customer service are outstanding.
