Purchase: I bought this item on Ebay from The Hitching Post in Kentucky. I paid $525.00 and received a free wintec girth, leathers and gullet kit as part of a promotion. The Hitching Post has great customer service and they had no problem answering my many email questions. The shipping was super fast too--two days from door to door.
Likes: I was VERY surprised at how much I like this saddle. First off, let me tell you that I tried an old Wintec dressage 500 and hated it--it was slippery, unsecure and sat me in a chair seat. The NEW 2009 Wintec dressage 500 has new equileather which provides better grip and has a nice equisuede thigh block that lightly blocks your thigh when combined with the flexiblock. And to make this saddle even better--the seat! The seat is a balanced, deep seat and puts you in a great position. And the CAIR is great--I have been using it for years with other saddles and wouldn't go without it. Also, they put some grip to the panels, so no more saddle slipping. The overall construction of the saddle is very good.
Dislikes: The leg flaps are a little stiff from the synthetic leather but this is not that big of a deal.
Quality: I understand that the Wintec company modeled this after the Bates Innova (Wintec and Bates are the same company). I think its great that they brought high end design to a cost effective saddle.
Summary: If you don't have a huge budget, this is a great saddle to get!
