Purchase: I found this Alabama based saddle maker on Ebay while looking for a used saddle. I did some research on the company and found that they actually build saddles and produce many parts for several top saddle manufactures. I called the owner Jerry and after lots of questions and several more calls, I felt confident that I had found a company that could build what I wanted. I paid 900.00 plus shipping for the saddle.
Likes: I liked the fact that I could change the stirrup leather from on top the fender to under it and add the extras (basket weave) as I liked. Their makers have been building saddles for over 40 years. I had called several other custom builders and I was bounced from person to person and no one could give me a definitive price. My Riders Choice saddle was built in 3.5 weeks and Jerry also sent me photos of my saddle being put together. When I opened the box and lifted it out I realized it was not a cheep built light saddle it weighed in at 45 lbs. I fell in love with it. The leather was super thick and the workmanship was just as Jerry had promised the best. Oh! And when I dallied the first calf I just smiled “Way To Go Jerry”
Dislikes: The only thing I don't like I don’t have enough money for a second one.
Quality: The construction of the saddle is the best I have had. and I have owned quite a few. The leather is American 15oz heavy grade. The tooling and the construction in the saddle is best I have seen.
Summary: You will never catch me on another saddle that does not say Riders Choice on the label. I have ordered several saddles that never fit my Appaloosa Jerry took the tracings or template I made from my horse’s back and put together a saddle that probably will out live me it is the best investment I have made. These people care about the horse, the rider, and their product. They build saddles right and they build them the way you want.
