Purchase: This saddle was purchased used, but in new condition for about $400. I'd had a Courbette Stylist D and loved it so was hoping the same with this saddle. It fits my broad Morgan very well and my butt absolutely LOVES this saddle. Contrary to the other review posted I think the saddle is well made. Yes, the Newmarket coloring has worn off under the leathers, but the leather underneath is solid and supple. I think this lighter color was made for those who wanted to keep a light saddle and not have it darken. Sadly, I'm not one of those people and wish the entire saddle would darken like the spots under the leathers.
Likes: The saddle is fairly light with a nicely padded seat. Too many saddles feel like sheets of plywood, but this one is contoured and padded so your seat bones are comfy. The knee blocks are great as you can really jam your knees into them; the padded flaps help you stay there. I love the movable thigh block! Billets are chrome leather which means they will wear like iron. I've had it for almost 3 years now and used it daily except during the frigid Midwest winters. IMO, it's holding up well. I use Passier Leatherbalm to keep it conditioned. Overall, I would not hesitate to purchase this saddle again.
Dislikes: As stated above, I wish the entire saddle would darken a bit.
Quality: IMO, I think the saddle is well made but I don't think I would pay the $1200 for it new. But I am not a wealthy person - I have horses, cats, dogs....etc. To me, this is a great middle of the road saddle, not cheaply priced or made, but not in the same class as a Butet or Tad Coffin.
Summary: The Courbette line seems to fit my tall body type very well. I would not hesitate to purchase another one of their saddles in the future.
