Trainer's Choice Breeches
Champion Low Rise
English Show Apparel

Manufacturer: Trainer's Choice Breeches
Model: Champion Low Rise
Category: English Show Apparel

Purchase: Bought at Broken Horn in Baldwin Park CA for $139 (May 2009).

Likes: I like almost everything about these. These are definitely show quality, but beyond looks they are extremely comfortable, cool, and low maintenance: throw them in the wash with some leather therapy or similar and then air dry - they dry very quickly. Stains wash out easily and they have kept their shape perfectly, with no warping of the waistband or losing shape like cheaper breeches. They have a relaxed fit so they look sophisticated and are appropriate for all ages (read: you don't have to be a 16 year old with a tight body to wear them well!). The low rise is very well designed and does not gap in back. They are a nice, modern style. They have coolmax, which makes a difference in the CA sun. They feel lightweight and the material is comfortably smooth, not at all itchy or rough. They are side zip, which I think is more flattering for most people.

Dislikes: I'm not a big fan of velcro at the ankles, which these have. I wish they used a stretch panel like some of the riding tights. But overall minor - I just wear socks under the breeches. Also, on side closure, there is a flat hook-bar closure above the zipper. Where the hook attaches to the breeches, there is metal on the fabric opposite the hook (similar to a snap would be). This metal is on the inside, where it touches your skin, and there is no fabric flap or anything to cover it, so I've noticed when I wear these all day that can get annoying- it feels like slight digging into your side. I hope they change this in the next generation. That said, I plan on buying another pair of these because I like the way they look and they're a great value for the quality.

Quality: See likes. I think the quality is overall excellent. I've been riding in these for several months, throwing them in the wash and line drying. I get them dirty (they are a light tan). They always clean up well, have kept their shape and stretch, and look basically like new. The Clarino knee patches dont show any signs of wear. Stitching remains solid. Velcro at ankle is still grippy.

Summary: Excellent quality and very good value. Breeches take a beating, so even for schooling I want a pair that looks decent and will hold up to abuse. The minor distractions mentioned above won't deter me from buying another pair in another color. I definitely recommend these.
