Purchase: After looking at many saddles for my sensitive, tall but very short backed horse, I finally found a used Von Neindorf at Trumbull Mtn. Saddlery. I hated to give up my Passier Corona but it was simply too long and made my horse sore in his sacrum area. The people at Trumbull Mtn. are exceptional and the service was great!

Likes: The change in my horse was almost immediate. He went from going hollow through his back and not wanting to move foreword to a horse that was reaching into the bridle and rounding his back. He no longer is sore after being ridden. While still a bit on the lazy side, he is much more willing to work and go foreword. For me the comfort and feel of my horse was amazing! The saddle simply "disappears" under me. The monoflap design keeps things simple, specially when cleaning.

Dislikes: This is not really something I dislike but, I must learn to be a better rider. There are no knee rolls or thigh blocks to lock you in position. After years of relying on the medium thigh blocks I had on my Passier I have to relearn to keep my legs under me. Something that can hardly be a bad thing. If you don't like having to earn it, this is not the saddle for you. If you buy one, order one seat size up as they measure small. I normally ride a 17.5" this one is an 18.5"

Quality: Not a flashy saddle at all but thats fine with me. The leather is soft and grippy yet very strong and durable. The stitching is tight and even. The flexible tree allows the saddle to move with my horse, freeing up his shoulders and back. The deep seat and monoflap allows you to feel everything your horse is doing under you.

Summary: I love this saddle. After years of riding Passiers and Stubbens, I was surprised that I could love this saddle so much. If you get the chance to try one of these saddles you just might want one for yourself.
