Purchase: I purchased my Infinity dressage saddle through an e-bay customer, who was selling it because she was upgrading to a full custom saddle. This saddle had all the features Jochen Shleese had said he would build for me if I purchased a saddle (when I met with him at the Equine Affaire in MA in 2008), only it was 1,500 dollars less (at $3,100)!
Likes: I LOVE my saddle, and so does my horse. My guy is 17+ hands, and has lordosis (curvature of the spine, or swayback). Without the Schleese fitted to him, I don't know what I would have done. He is a happy camper, and I've had the saddle re-fitted again this spring, as his shape has changed as his back has come up with strengthening. For me, the Infinity is really comfy (it has the "female" cutout at the front of the saddle for the pelvic bone), plus I can get to the back of the saddle to help improve his canter work. I can also change the knee/thigh blocks as needed to help me sit his big gaits. The Schleese staff have always been very helpful and accommodating, and as soon as my checkbook can swing it, I'll be getting a jumping saddle from them too!
Dislikes: There's not much to not like about this saddle. If I had to pick one thing . . . I can't think of one! Maybe the price, but that's just because I'm a teacher, and my salary doesn't really justify TWO custom saddles! I would really love to get another. Sigh. "Good things come to those who wait", I'm told.
Quality: The construction is very solid, made to last a lifetime. The knee padding is soft and supple with a bit of padding (ooh!). The seat is soft enough without being too much; that is, it is easy to feel the horse beneath you (ahh!).
Summary: Bottom line: don't leave home without one! And no, I didn't get paid to write this review. I just really love my saddle. I only wish I could post a picture to show you how happy Dobby is in his saddle!
