Purchase: Purchased with my Dixieland saddle (which I really like) and paid $45 for the "upgraded" stirrups which were a waste of money and unsafe.
Likes: The leather was pretty and matched the rest of my saddle.
Dislikes: The bottom of the stirrup wasn't covered with leather and one of the side pieces looked uneven the way it was cut.
Quality: The worst thing about these stirrups is the safety factor of the lightweight, not very sturdy aluminum stirrup underneath the leather. My horse laid down and slowly started over on her side and the stirrup crushed! A good stirrup will not crush.
Summary: I would never have purchased these stirrups if I had any idea that the stirrup underneath the leather was flimsy aluminum. I'd had another pair of aluminum stirrups before and saw what a disaster they were when a horse suddenly fell on one. It flattened completely. It could have been a real wreck with a rider's foot being caught in the stirrup! Keep away from lightweight aluminum trail stirrups! The nylon polymer ones are lighter weight, just as comfortable, less expensive, and much more sturdy/safe.
