Purchase: I purchased one of these fly sheets in Spring of 2008 to protect my horse that stays body clipped during the summer. I paid only $49.95 for it at the time.
Likes: I love everything about this sheet especially the price!
I will admit I did not expect much based on the price but it really proved me wrong. I turn my horse out daily in it, and she sleeps in it on cool summer nights. I love that it is a light color since my horse is dark brown I feel like it should help to reflect the hot sun. My mare tends to have sensitive skin and unlike most clothes that she wears, the smooth shoulder lining eliminates my having to add a chest protector.
My mare tends to itch and rub on things and despite the torture this sheet just only shows snags, no rips, tears, or holes!
This sheet washes beautifully! - Despite my mares nasty habit of mud bathing, I toss it into the washing machine and it comes out looking great every time!
Dislikes: Just this year I noticed that the silky shoulder lining is beginning to wear thin - however I will happily stitch a new one in or add a chest protector when it wears out since the rest of the sheet is still in great condition!
Quality: This sheet is made from a woven mesh material that is heavier that the lightweight walking scrims but is much lighter than those nasty lawn chair material fly sheets. It has shoulder gussets an open front, crossed belly straps, and elastic leg straps to keep the blanket in place despite my mares romping, bucking, rolling, and galloping around.
Summary: An excellent value and lasting much longer than anticipated!
I outfitted my other 3 horses in them this year! I now have one narrow standardbred, and average quarter horse, and two drafts that are built like tanks and this sheet fits them all wonderfully!
