Purchase: I first experienced one of these as the old owner of my horse let me use hers. A few days ago she needed hers back, so I bought my own from Arizona Saddlery for around $75.
Likes: It's very thick so if you have a saddle that doesn't fit as well as you'd like, then this is for you, mainly because it's VERY thick so the tree points won't dig into your horses back! My horse loves this. It also keeps my saddle in place and on my horse's back instead of his stomach when I forget to tighten the girth before I jump! Also, the other review for one of these says it doesn't fit their saddle well... I found this very untrue for my 16.5" Luc Childeric Model M, it fits perfectly under it, this could possibly be because there are different sizes of these, I recommend medium for saddles from about 16.5 to a 17.

Quality: It is very well made, I actually prefer this to some of the Mattes pads I have borrowed from people to try out. It is very very thick so it can prevent some pain for horses with temporary saddles that don't fit as well as their owners would like. It prevents the tree points from an ill fitting saddle from digging into your horse's back, which is excellent. Another thing I love about this is that I washed it at the laundromat once, then it still wasn't white enough so I took it home and bleached it, and was scrubbing the non-fleece parts with the bleach cap to clean it. It cleaned very easily with the bleach, then I had to wash it again, and it's held up through all these washings without a bit of wear and tear!
Summary: This is an excellent pad for everyday use, or just for underneath a temporary saddle or a saddle that doesn't fit as well as you'd like because its so thick it won't allow the tree points of an ill fitting saddle to go through it and touch your horse.
