Purchase: I purchased the used that is in excellent shape. The Dixieland is durable & is made to last.
Likes: We specialize in TWH and SSH trail horses & are located in Shelbyville, Tn. I ride many different horses that are various sizes & builds. I needed a daily riding saddle to fit our horses & the Dixieland has fit perfectly. The Steele Gaited Flexible tree is superior to any other I have used. The design & look of the saddle is appealing. The numerous hooks & rings for attaching one's gear makes packing for the trail fun & easy. The saddle did not slid or slip on steep inclines & stayed in correct position when I pulled up to mount the horse. It's leather is thick - soft - supple with no knee strain during long rides. The matching breastcollar is a "must have" accessory as it is perfect fitting for the horse & attaches to the saddle without any difficulty. The deep padded seat offers security in the saddle & hours of rear end comfort. I have tried many different brands of gaited saddles over the years & the Dixieland is my NUMBER ONE PICK. You just can not beat it's quality craftsmanship - proper gaited horse fit - easy & functional for the trail - rider comfort and it's reasonable price. Dislikes: I can not find any fault with this saddle and my horses appreciate it's proper fit.
Quality: Carefully designed to fit gaited horses and has no saddle roll during mounting or trail riding. The leather is thick - soft and supple. Nicely finished edges on all of the leather - straight stitching - beautiful border tooling - great quality all the way.
Summary: It's a great saddle in all respects. It fits the horse perfectly - well made - easy and functional to use - nice looking - many hooks for attaching all riding gear - a price that is very reasonable for such a great saddle.
