Purchase: Private seller for $1,800, lightly used. I believe these retail around $2,800? Wanted something adjustable that is easier than the Wintecs and can be done in seconds. This one adjusts with an key in a cleverly hidden area under the pommel- must adjust when off the horse though. Tested tons of non-adjustable which never felt right. Only other brands with this simple adjustment mechanism were Laser and Classic but couldn't find any used to try. Kieffers seem to be a proven brand.
Likes: The saddle is very comfortable, the knee rolls aren't huge but are supportive. The seat is NOT HARD like so many!!!! Wide gullet, soft flocking- could go on and on... Finally- EASY TO ADJUST and it fits!! Just turn the key! Anyone could do this!! No need for multiple saddles!!
Dislikes: At first the leather (on the panel behind knee roll only) seemed a bit stiff- but is softening up quickly. I've seen this in other Kieffer reviews and would have to agree- imagine this lends to the longevity of this brand.
Quality: Top notch- everything you will need in a saddle that will last. Comparable to Stubben, County, Albion. The leather quality isn't that of a $5,000 saddle- but then it isn't $5,000!!!!
Summary: If you want comfort, convenient adjust ability this saddle is it. The twist is average, the seat is soft, the knee rolls supportive, doesn't jam you into position. And is economical esp. if you have more than one horse. I ride one, turn the key 3 turns and its ready for the next horse. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this Kieffer or a different model again.
