Purchase: I was looking for a saddle to just ride around on for my mare who has serious saddle fitting issues. I thought the gullet system would help. I purchased the saddle from Adams online for around $449 and it came with the new elastic CAIR girth and free shipping.
Likes: I like the color of this saddle. It's a nice brownish color like a dark caramel. It actually looks like a leather saddle from a slight distance! It's very well put together and doesn't scratch easily as a leather saddle would. Also, this saddle seems to fit my extremely hard to fit mare and it stays level on her.
Dislikes: This close contact model runs a bit big. I have a 16.5 inch and it feels and looks just like a 17 inch. If you are planning on purchasing this saddle take that into consideration. I basically do not like that it's a bit too big for me even though I usually ride in 16.5 english saddles.
Quality: The quality is super nice. I love that I can ride out in the rain and that I don't have to worry so much about scratches and such on this saddle opposed to a leather one. The gullet change is not super hard as all you need is a screw driver and maybe someone to help you hold the saddle.
Summary: The Wintec close contact is a wonderful saddle for all around riding and showing. I see many people in the show ring with these saddles at our local shows. This saddle puts me in a superb position. If you always have trouble with your lower leg slipping forward you will not have this problem with this saddle. I would recommend this model to anyone looking for a nice saddle at a lower cost.
