Enlightened Equitation (Heather Moffett)
Fhoenix 'Vogue' Dressage Saddle
Manufacturer: Enlightened Equitation (Heather Moffett)
Model: Fhoenix 'Vogue' Dressage Saddle
Category: Dressage Saddles
Likes: It looks quite traditional, the finish is very high quality as is the Italian Leather which is buttery soft.
The seat has memory foam in it which makes it extremely comfortable for the rider, especially as it has a decent 'twist' unlike most treeless saddles. So even when I tried this on my very wide elderly cob it still didn't feel too wide to ride in properly.
The saddle also has set back stirrup bars, this placement, along with the construction of the saddle, allows you to sit in a correct, classically aligned seat with ease.
The girthing system is also on a 'swing system' which allows it to cater for a more forward girth groove easily. The saddle is comfortable, my young horse is happy in it, and it looks the part.
In fact you would never know it was a 'treeless/soft tree' saddle once you are sat in it as it just feels like an extremely comfortable dressage saddle.
It has also been extensively tested, including pressure testing by the pliance system which showed good weight distribution.
Dislikes: There isn't anything I dislike about it.
I will be honest in that I admit that I trialled the original Fhoenix and disliked it (as did my horse at the time), but the new Vogue has addressed all the things I disliked, such as the lack of twist and wither clearance.
Quality: The saddle is built on a 'soft tree' which includes a solid support in the cantle area which gives the rider support, however you cannot feel this and there is no way it would ever touch the horse.
The construction is such that it gives good wither clearance even on horses with high withers and also good gullet clearance which also aids stability.
The leather is beautiful and the construction and finish is excellent. It is an attractive saddle and does not look out of place in competitions etc.
Overall well worth the price tag and head and shoulders over its closest competitor in my opinion.
Summary: Overall I am delighted with this saddle and with the customer service which I have found to be excellent.
If you aren't convinced about treeless or the soft tree concept - try a Vogue!
My only wish is that it had been around years ago!
