Purchase: I was looking for a gaited trail saddle for my rocky and googled gaited trail saddles, I found this company southern trails saddle, never heard of them, but after looking around the net, I found references and referrals from dozens of places.
I paid about 900.00 for my saddle.
Likes: I like the fact that I had choices, many choices, I love the fact after some modifications, that 1000's other people might not have the same exact color and tooling as mine did.
Dislikes: I have not found anything to gripe about.
Quality: The stitching is straight, the leather seems good, the tooling is detailed, I have not had any parts fall off, so I guess it is made well, I did have a brand new tucker once that a silver concho fell off, i will never buy an over priced tucker again.
Summary: I said most of my points already, but overall I would say I have had the 2,500.00 saddle before and I had a used 4,800.00 saddle I paid 1,600.00 for and I would say the southern trails saddle is better than both of them. The most expensive one had a lot more tooling, but i got tired of cleaning the silly thing anyway.
