Purchase: I bought my Bates Caprilli Dressage saddle with the Cair system to fit my Fjord Horse. Purchased from a local tack shop for approximately $1,800 with the leathers and changeable gullet system included. What appealed to me is the changeable gullet system since I didn't know how my boys musculature would change with work. Also, the saddle is beautiful.
Likes: I love this saddle. I previously had a Wintec Isabel but felt that the flocking became compressed after a few years. I sold that saddle in 1 day. The leather on the Bates Caprilli is superior quality and it is just a great looking and feeling saddle. Not uncomfortable at all and keeps you in the correct position. My horse goes very freely in this saddle, his shoulders are not restricted at all.
Dislikes: There is nothing that I dislike about this saddle. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dressage saddle.
Quality: The construction is wonderful, the leather is beautiful and gets even nicer with cleaning and conditioning. I use the Bates leathers which do not stretch out. The movable knee block is convenient, you can adjust it to your leg. Changing the gullet is a little challenging but once you get the hang of it, it's easy.
Summary: This is a great saddle, I highly recommend it.
