Purchase: I tried many different saddles on my horse - different sizes, different brands - and none of them really fit him. I finally decided that a custom made saddle was the only way to go and based on the reviews I read here, I went to Allegheny Mountain Trail Saddles. I tried the Steele "fit to be seen" forms and found the correct fit for my horse. I ordered the saddle and paid $1255 for it.
Likes: The best thing about this saddle for me is that it fits my horse - that's something I couldn't get anywhere else. And after all, a good fit for your horse is the most important factor when you purchase a saddle. If like me you have a hard to fit horse, this is the only way to go.
Dislikes: I ordered an all-black saddle and the leather is leaving black smudges on my hands and my saddle pad. Hopefully a few cleanings will take care of this problem, otherwise I have no dislikes.
Quality: It's handmade by Amish craftsmen, built on a Steele tree, using Wicket & Craig leather - you can't find better quality that that.
Summary: I wasted a lot of money buying cheap saddles and then selling them because they didn't fit. I don't have to worry about that anymore. Purchasing this saddle was definitely a good decision.
