Purchase: Was looking for a cheap synthetic saddle with good construction to use for training on a variety of different horses and beginner riders.
Purchased this saddle with a medium tree through Greenhawk, paid around $370 for the entire package, bridle, leathers, irons & girth.
Likes: 1) Saddle is extremely sturdy - I've owned it over a year, used it almost daily. This saddle has been through the wringer a number of times and still looks almost new!
2) Very easy to clean; just wipe with damp cloth.
3) The wither construction with the inset makes it ideal for higher withered horses.
4) Has a very nice "deep seat" that I appreciate when I'm riding in it.
Dislikes: 1) The synthetic girth that came with this saddle is a little cheap, and rubs the horses the wrong way. I replaced that pretty quick.
2) Is not the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden in. The raised wither means that the rider has to be secure in their seat - I had a number of beginners "can" themselves on it! Still doesn't feel "broken in" after a year. Pretty stiff.
3) Sits fairly high on the wither; which is okay with a high-withered horse but not so great with some of ours that are more flat.
Quality: Is inset for the wither, seems to sit higher at the front, the tree is very stiff which can be an asset or a detriment to the fit of the saddle.
Pretty good quality for a synthetic; is definitely sturdy; stitching is very good, material is of very high quality.
Summary: I've gotten my money out of this saddle already and it looks like I'll be using it for some time yet!
Good saddle for my purposes and excellent value for the price. I wouldn't want this to be my only saddle though; it's just not comfortable enough for that.
It fits almost all of my medium tree horses but doesn't fit any of them spectacularly well. Especially not great with horses with lower withers.
I'm still looking for a synthetic in a narrow tree and a wide tree; and I'm strongly considering getting another supra in narrow.
