Dressage Saddles

For Sale on eBay

Manufacturer: Passier
Model: Lenox
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I bought this saddle used from a friend, though it had only been ridden in a couple of times and was in excellent shape. I paid $1100 for it (it retails new for $1700).

Likes: The thing I like most about this saddle is that the flaps are very long ... perfect for a long-legged rider like me. Although the saddle wasn't extra comfortable, it wasn't bad, and it fit me well overall.

Dislikes: After four years of riding in this saddle (about three times a week) and taking good care of it, I was astounded to find that the stitching in the seat was pulling out. I took it to a guy who repairs saddles and he said he could either glue it or order the $700 seat repair kit (essentially a new seat) from Passier. I went with the glue. The seat held for about a year (which surprised me)then began to pull out again on both sides. I contacted Passier and they wouldn't do anything for me. Passier is supposed to be one of the best, and even though the Lenox isn't a top-of-the-line model, I certainly expected it to last for more than four years. Now I'm left with a saddle that I can't ride in, can't sell, and can't fix (why would I assume the new seat wouldn't do the same thing). I will never buy another Passier. I'm disgusted.

Quality: Obviously, I don't think much of the construction and quality of this saddle.

Summary: I don't know if they even still make the Passier Lenox, but if they do ... stay away. In fact, I'd advise anyone to stay away from Passier completely. They certainly weren't very helpful or accommodating to me.
