Purchase: 2008 I purchased my saddle on eBay for $279 in a quick need to replace tack lost in a fire. I didn't know much about Stubben at the time so I ended up with a 31cm that was too wide for my Mustang. I have since learned a lot about Stubben and have had a custom Roxane S saddle made for my horse.
Likes: Excellent craftsmanship. Saddle is from the 1980's and very sound. The pony club now uses it on their wide ponies. The seat has a narrow twist and is comfortable for trail and arena jumping. Still in Show Quality after years of use. Its a great close contact saddle for training and show - Wish they still made them for retail!
Dislikes: The leather panels on the underside started to crack (was this way before I purchased), and the plain flaps give little grip even when using chaps. We had to add bee's wax to the flap. The flaps are also a little short, more like a VSS shape then S/G shape my daughter prefers so she outgrew the 16.5" saddle quickly.
Quality: All Cowhide Leather and excellent craftsmanship.
Summary: I would recommend this saddle to someone looking to be one with the horse yet still in saddle. Great close contact. I have all stubben saddles now: Siegfried VSS, Roxane S, and Siegfried II (used by the pony club because it doesn't fit my current horse or daughter).
