Purchase: I have many TWH & SSH for trail riding. We have been training these horses for many years. I need a saddle for a daily riding saddle & it must fit all of our horses as I can't have a saddle for each horse. It has got to be user friendly for horse & rider. After having many different brands I have found the DIXIELAND to be my #1 choice. In fact, it is my 3rd DIXIELAND to own. This Butterfly DIXIELAND was purchased directly from Cynthia at DIXIELAND. It was the best $1058 I ever spent on a saddle - well worth every penny and then some.
Likes: The Butterfly DIXIELAND as well as my other two DIXIELAND endurance saddles fit my horses perfectly and I saddle & ride a bunch of different horses. It has plenty of gullet height & width. The horse's perform wonderfully on short & long rides. The saddle gives me a centered secure riding position - seat is way comfortable & secure - can feel my horse underneath me - easy to give leg cues to one's horse in this saddle. It is very nice looking with super soft thick leather that is free of any imperfections. The stitching is precise. The seat is soft & has an appealing contrasting color to the saddle. Saddle's hardware is excellent quality. I love the wool felt fleecing used on my saddle. It is a very well made saddle and is of much better quality in every respect than other name brands and I mean TOP NAME brands. The best gaited saddle I have owned or seen for that matter.
Dislikes: There is nothing to complain about with this saddle. I have not found one flaw with the three DIXIELAND saddles that I own and that is true after lots of riding use of the saddles.
Quality: The materials and craftsmanship that are used in the DIXIELAND are far superior to other name brand gaited saddles. The look of the DIXIELAND is an expensive top quality look. The leather used is perfect with no discoloration or veins showing in the hides. It is hand rubbed with perfect finished edges. The leather used in the seat is soft & very durable. The stitching is a beautiful thick thread that is exactly sewn with it all being straight and precise. The tooling is deep & crisp. The saddles fleecing is also properly placed and sewn underneath the saddle. So in appearance - workmanship - fit of horse - fit for rider - security of saddle to stay in place and keep the rider balanced, the DIXIELAND is the best on today's market.
Summary: If you could sit the DIXIELAND saddle in a showroom with other top name brand saddles with all the price tags visible and took a look - YOU WOULD BUY THE DIXIELAND without even thinking about it twice. They are really that nice and that is why I have purchased three DIXIELAND saddles. I have ridden all the rest and now I know I am riding the best - THE DIXIELAND.
