Purchase: I purchased these boots about a month or so ago from Valley Vet for $144.50 for my horse who is switching to barefoot in the front and was having a rough time walking on harder surfaces.
Likes: I'm very happy with these boots. It is my first time owning boots, but I did a lot of research before purchasing. Easyboots always seemed popular for their quality, fit, etc, but I saw many complaints about them being hard to put on. The Edge model was fairly new, but the application seemed a lot easier than the other models so I thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed! It's very easy to put these on once you get a hang of it, and you don't have to be super strong to tighten them with the easykey. At first the boots didn't fit my horse perfectly, but pretty quickly they shaped to his hoof and now fit him like a glove! My horse is currently wearing them all day and only having them taken off when I take him out. He goes through mud, gravel, sand, etc in them with no issues. He has no problem wearing them at all. As far as he knows, he's still wearing shoes!
Dislikes: The only thing I can really say I don't like about them so far is that they grab smells and hold them. They come clean pretty easily, but getting the smell out is a whole other story. This only bothers me because I like things to come perfectly clean, but it isn't any major issue of course. Everything else about them is great!
Quality: The boots have a rubber type sole with some tough type of fabric for the gaiter. The fastening mechanism features a sort of lock and key type deal. It's a little bit like using a screwdriver, but easier. The boots come with an easykey, which is the easiest way to tighten the boots, but if you lose your key you can also use a flat screwdriver, coin, etc. This mechanism seems very sturdy. My boots have gone through mud, had sand fill every open crevise, been covered with water, etc. and I still have no problem tightening and loosening them. I'm very impressed.
Summary: These are wonderful boots overall, when properly fitted and fastened (directions on easyboot website). The system used is very straightforward. I would definitely buy them again. But don't forget, nothing will fit every horse. You absolutely must make sure they fit your horse before they are too used to return. While these are very nice boots, I'm sure that they will not fit every horse out there, nor will any other boots on the market.
