Purchase: I found this pad on Cashel.com, for $32.95, after attempting to find a pad to deal with my mutton-withered, barrel-shaped horse whose saddles slide forward, pinching her shoulders.
Likes: It's so simple and squishy, fitting under her non-slip memory foam pad (for a treeless saddle), and yet it's brilliant in shape, being 1-1/4" thick at the front and 1/2" at the back, so it keeps her treeless saddle from sliding forward (where she has no withers) to press on her shoulders. My horse is a Tennessee Walker, and it's important to free her shoulders for better gait and movement--this pad delivers and my horse behaved enthusiastically for the first time in forever the moment I tried this pad on her back.
Dislikes: Not knowing the dimensions of Med vs Lg, etc. I got the Medium, which measures about 20" long. I probably would have chosen the large, but it covers the areas where pressure is applied by the saddle.
Quality: Cushy, high-density foam. Simple, nice quality w/ cutback in wither area and beveled sides. Like I said 1-1/4" thick at the front, tapering to 1/2" at the back.
Summary: Great for horses w/ little withers or great cushioning for those w/ bony, high withers! My horse moved out with joy, for the first time I can remember--she's like a new horse!
