Purchase: I was looking for my first saddle after I had taken two years of riding lessons and so my mom gave me her old saddle. She had bought it used a long time ago, so the saddle was around 30-40 years old. The leather was in GREAT condition! It only had cracks underneath because it had been sitting in our basement forever and wasn't being oiled. They are worth around $100-$200 now, but used to be a nice expensive saddle.

Likes: The leather is a beast! It holds up so well and it has barely worn and hasn't fallen apart. It puts you in a nice, balanced position. It's great for equitation. I have used it to jump up to 2'9", and it has worked perfect for me. Someone told me it has no grip, but I think it makes me feel secure. The medium tree also fits a wide range of horses! I have used it on a 15.2 QH, 14.2 h wide pony, 15 h QH, 16.2 h paint/TB, and a 15.3 appendix QH and it has fit perfectly on all of them. I do use a riser because most of the horses had tall withers.

Dislikes: It is a very hard saddle. I did not have any issues with it, for I do not have any back problems and don't need a comfortable saddle to ride in. I do ride for hours, but it has never bothered me. It lacks kneeblocks/rolls, and if that doesn't bother you, it shouldn't matter. I only want kneerolls for higher jumping. I actually liked no kneerolls because when I rode ponies, my knee could go over the flaps with out an issue. The stitching has started to fall apart, but after what? 40 years of riding? It can be easily repaired too. All in all, there is nothing to dislike about this saddle!

Quality: Wonderful! The quality of the leather is great!

Summary: If you are looking for a starter saddle that is nice in equality and doesn't feel like cardboard, I'd find this saddle for sale! Or if you are looking for something to ride on the flat and over lower fences, this saddle is great too! This definitely is a versatile saddle!
