Purchase: I paid $700 for my saddle. What a steal!! It was used and had been been very well cared for. I first learned to ride in an About the Horse saddle and sometimes still have to pinch myself that I'm lucky enough to own one of my own.
Likes: I really like so many features of this saddle. The rigging allows for great balance overall. The deep seat, high cantle make for a nice secure feel. I love that it is dyed black, which is unusual. I like that it is plain and not overly decorated, tooled, or full of silver. That makes it so practical and easier to clean. Of course the best feature is the special tree with the flared shoulder. That feature allows me to use this saddle on several different horses with no problem at all. The horses all move freely
Dislikes: If I had to pick something, I guess I would say that it's a bit on the heavy side. I don't know exactly how much it weighs, but getting it on and off of a 16hh horse takes some effort.
Quality: The leather is top notch on this saddle. Although it's been used continuously since it was first purchased, there are very few wear marks. The leather is soft, supple, and beautiful. Everything on this saddle feels top quality.
Summary: In summary, if you ever have the chance to own one of these saddles, take it. You won't regret it and your horses will be so happy!!
