My young gelding was getting increasingly bored as the weather started changing and was kept inside during rainy days. Started to kick at the walls and feared that he might hurt himself, so I decided to hang one. A few other horses at our barn had them, all seemed to like them, and had fun playing with them
Likes: EVERYTHING. . . My gelding instantly started licking at it, and plays with it constantly. Price isn't bad, and it occupies him so that he isn't kicking down the barn. In fact he likes it so much that he's going through one ball every week to 2 weeks.
Nice way to treat your horse without hand feeding. I don't hand feed because it usually creates nippers or beggars, and that is a big no-no at our barn.
Dislikes: Wish it would last longer, but it depends on the horse. The other horses at my barn have had them last up to a month or more - although they all seem to play with them, mine loves it so much he devours the thing. When he's in and not eating his hay or grain, he must stand and lick it non-stop. His face is sticky, but I just wipe him off with a wet towel.
Quality: Grain covered ball - about 4 lbs of feed, and it is solid! I hung it where my horse couldn't pin it, and it performed as promised.
Summary: As long as my horse is happy, and not kicking, I'll continue to treat him! 5 horses at our barn, and they all liked them . . . Varying flavors. Worth the price and the sticky faces.
