Purchase: I tried this saddle out on a lesson horse during a lesson with my trainer. It usually costs $1,200 new.
Likes: It is so comfortable! I felt like I was sitting in a sofa. It put me in the perfect classical dressage position and allowed me to move with the horse and give leg cues with ease. I have back issues and this saddle alleviated them. It fits the horse so well. This horse is your typical WIDE flat Arabian with hardly any withers and short back. This saddle fits him beautifully and he likes it too. I was amazed to find that a Courbette could fit a horse like him so well.
Dislikes: I don't like the fact that I can't find one with an extra wide tree that I can afford used! Wah! LOL
Quality: Beautiful German leather, sturdy, yet breaks in. Easy to maintain. Has a special billet system to prevent slipping and "anchor" properly onto the horse. Large thigh blocks, but they actually help you and don't hinder you. This model comes in an extra wide tree with short flaps for horses like Arabians, which is important. Has a sufficient channel between the panels to clear the spine (very important!).
Summary: I highly recommend this saddle and love it! It was my first time trying a Courbette and I was "in love" with it at first ride.
