Category: Jumping Saddles
Purchase: Purchased from a local tack shop in Norco, CA to possibly start learning how to jump my horses. I paid $1,500 for it. I could have paid less if I had ordered in online, but there would have been shipping charges and wait time.
Likes: I ended up trail riding in this saddle. I feel very secure and comfortable in this saddle. I do not have any aches or pains in my back, ankles, or feet after hours of trail riding. My horses sometimes will act up, but I always stay in place. The best thing about this saddle besides its comfort for me, is the comfort it gives my horses. The tree is interchangeable so I can custom fit it to my horses. One of my horses is very high withered with a distinct dip behind. He now moves freely and willing. My paint mare, who is almost 75% TB, used to act very badly in the arena and on the trail. She is now calm, obedient, and willing. They both move much more fluidly. They seem so much more happy when I ride them in comparision to when I rode them in my Circle Y Park and Trail. The saddle is very well made and has held up extremely well to the tough riding I have been putting on it. I can't say enough good things about. I love the position of the knee rolls and the thigh blocker. They really help me to stay in place when going up or down long steep hills. The saddle also stay in place on my horses' backs without a breast plate. I even got my husband to ride in it once on a trail ride, and although relunctant to ride in an English saddle he was amazed how his body did not ache after riding in it. He felt very comfortable and secure.
Dislikes: The price. But now that I have ridden in it for the past four months I believe it is worth every penny I paid for it. It is also difficult to locate one of these saddles to purchase. Additionally, the gullets can be difficult to change out. I had to have my husband change them for me. I did give up, but I am not mechanically inclined and he is.
Quality: Very well made saddle. The leather is soft and supple and cleans up nice. The stiches are perfect and I have had no problems. Everything is high quality about this saddle.
Summary: An expensive saddle to go trail riding in, but with the comfort I and my horses are experiencing it is worth every penny.
