Purchase: I had been saving to purchase an Ericksen saddle for about 4 years, when as a fluke, I found one for sale on Craigslist. The saddle had been purchased by an older gentleman that had a stroke, and could not ride anymore. I won't say what I paid, but it was a bargain!
Likes: I first rode an Erickson saddle back in 2000, when I was on a guided elk hunt in Ennis Montana. If you are considering booking with Cargill outfitters, or Iron Wheel outfitters, save your money and book with someone else. They give very poor service. Also, do not book with a guide by the name of "Goldie" out of Butte, MT...lousy lazy foulmouthed guide.... While the guide service was terrible, we still bagged our elk. Rick Ericksen was our packer and did a great job of getting our elk out of a very boggy hole.
His saddles were very comfortable on the mules that we rode and I was impressed with the versatility of them. I have used my saddle for one elk hunt trip in Washington state. It fits my standardbred well. So well, my wife wants one now....
Dislikes: There is nothing that I do not like about this saddle.
Quality: These are equally well crafted saddles. All of the leather and rawhide is of superior quality.
Summary: IF you can afford to have Rick Make a saddle for you, go for it! You won't regret it one bit!
