Purchase: I bought this pad on horse.com (It's the lighter cream colored one). I pad around $85.
Likes: I've had it for 8 months now. At first I liked it quit a bit. It was half the price of the 5 star pads. It fit my horse real nice and gave her an even sweat pattern, the wool was soft and thick
Dislikes: However, after a few months of using it every day I noticed the wool getting loose. The wool is not packed nearly as tightly as 5 star or Tod Slone pads. It started to fall apart.
Quality: Now there is a very thin spot under neath the right bar of my saddle, such that I will no longer use it. I ride a custom made $2500 wade rig, which fits beautifully, so I know the saddle is not the problem. The pad is made poorly and really not made to stand up to real work.
A lot of the positive reviews I've read about this pad were written by people who had only owned the pad for a few days or a few weeks. The weakness in construction takes time to show it's self, at first it looks real nice.
Summary: Don't be fooled by the low price and don't waste your money, particularly if you are an avid rider. Buy a 5 star or Tod Slone pad (look for used ones on Ebay and Craigslist, Tacktrader), I have owned quite a few of those and have nothing bad to say.
