Purchase: I paid between $70 and $80 for it at a local tack store in Ft. Worth Texas
Likes: My boyfriend competes in Cowboy Mounted Shooting. He was having trouble with his main shooting horse because when he would go to "check him up" or slow him down during a tricky shooting pattern his horse would start leaping and coming up in the front. I'm sure you can imagine this makes it very difficult to hit your targets! I brought him home this little hack after hearing some good things about it and I don't think we will ever ride that horse in a bit again! It solved all of the leaping problems and resistance and the horse is running great!
Dislikes: the only problem we have had with it was the curb chain that comes with it oxidized after a few weeks and makes it hard to adjust but that is just a given in our Texas climate and easy to replace. Everything else has help up great. Plus it is made in the USA!
Quality: Construction is excellent! For some horses the rope nose is a little bit too harsh but a lot of my friends wrap it in vetwrap or something similar if this is a problem. On our horses it works fine as is.
Summary: A hackamore isn't for every horse, but for others it makes all the difference in the world! I have been so pleased with all of the bits and items I have purchased from Reinsman over the years.
