Likes: Very comfortable to ride in. Deep seat, but still allows you to shift your weight forward. The first time I rode with it, it felt like I had been born in this saddle - excellent position and balance.
Dislikes: Very heavy for an aussie saddle - I'd guess about 10 pounds heavier than my other aussie saddle. The flaps are also longer than I would like and a bit forward, so I have to be careful about positioning the saddle to keep it from rubbing my horse's shoulder.
Quality: Bad. The big problem is on the left side, where you lift the flap up to cinch the horse - it uses a western cinch. The stitching has all pulled out, and 4 nails that hold part of the leather to the tree have come out. I've used it about 2 times/week for 6 months, but I'm getting worried it will fall apart on me while riding. The Down Under "warranty does not cover any other part of the saddle including the saddle horn, kneepads, stirrup bars, crupper bar, stitching and decorative trim, it only covers the saddle tree itself."
Summary: May end up throwing it in the trash. I'm not sure I want to ride a saddle I don't trust, nor can I in good conscience sell it to anyone. It is such a comfortable saddle that I MAY take it to a saddle repair and see if there is any hope of fixing it, but that could be throwing good money after bad.
