B.T. Crump
Prix De Saute
Close Contact Saddles

Manufacturer: B.T. Crump
Model: Prix De Saute
Category: Close Contact Saddles

Purchase: I acquired my first Crump Prix de Saute when I was 13 years old. I had outgrown my child's saddle, and my instructor (Denny Emerson) had me ride in his VERY ancient Crump. I loved it! My mother found one on used for around $250. It is the German model, made in the 1970's. Beautiful leather, black with tan underneath. I now have not one but three Crump Prix de Saute saddles, and I wouldn't part with them for anything!

Likes: The leather is beautiful. The first Crump saddle I bought was made in 1977, and it still looks exquisite. No fading, very durable, the saddle has been through hell and back (I'm and eventer) and barely has a scratch on it. Wool flocked, can therefore be fitted to any horse. Very close contact, a really nice no frills jumping saddle.

Dislikes: Nothing! They do have a harder seat for those of you who prefer a more cushy saddle, but again this is a very old-school jumping saddle.

Quality: Excellent workmanship. Leather will last a lifetime. Beautiful tight stitching, sturdy tree. Leather is soft and supple.

Summary: Bottom line: If you need a nice jumping or equitation saddle this is the one to buy, and you can find many used ones at good prices.
