Purchase: I bought this bridle from Dover Saddlery for about $169.
Likes: The price was attractive and it was one of the few bridles that I could find quickly to fit a large pony. The bridle looked good on the rack - tight stitching, nice design. The stitching has stayed tight and no cracking has occurred in the leather.
Dislikes: The color (black) began to wear off the bridle almost immediately. After a year of moderate use it looks awful - areas of reddish brown showing in many places. The leather really never took oil too well either, seemed like the black color was almost a shellac covering up poor quality brown leather. The bridle is just not soft and supple as well cared for leather should be. It has held up...nothing has broken, but I want to replace it anyway.
Quality: Pros - tight stitching, no cracking or breakage. Cons - poor leather quality, doesn't take oil well, poor tanning process.
Summary: I wouldn't buy from this manufacturer again. Save a little bit more money for a bridle with better leather quality.
