Purchase: I bought this directly from thinline inc. on closeout for $100.00 plus $18.00 for front ultra thinline shims. It was on closeout because they accidentally made it without billet keepers. Usually sells for $135 plus the cost of shims. I bought it about four months ago. I was hoping to lift the front of my saddle in order to level it, and I was hoping to solve side to side saddle slippage.
Likes: I am a big fan of thinline because they make a lot of different pads, so you can usually find one to solve the problem you are having. I have a wide, flat-backed appy pony and I finally found a saddle that almost fit her perfectly, but the cantle was lifted a bit off her back. So I bought this pad, shimmed the front, and now the saddle is perfectly level.
Dislikes: I was also hoping to solve side to side saddle slippage, however, my saddle still slips. I mean this pad goes on top of your normal pad, so I can't imagine how they think that would stop saddle slippage. Also, I have called thinline many time, as I own several of their products, and most of the people I have talked to sound young and lost - I am young so I can blame it partly on age. However, when you are spending this kind of money you want to be able to talk to someone who is knowledgeable about the product. Lastly, they say it is easy to clean. If you get the white pad be prepared for stains that don't come off even with bleach. And the front part of my pad that is cotton is showing some wear already.
Quality: The thinline part itself is great, but the cotton is already showing wear and is hard to clean.
Summary: Great pad for fixing minor saddle fitting issues. Not good for saddle slippage.
