Purchase: I bought this saddle new off ebay for a great deal at $500, plus $25 shipping. I bought it because I had just gotten a Thoroughbred who would not fit in my previous saddle because of his high wither. Also my previous saddle was pretty old and I needed a new one anyway.
Likes: My favorite thing about this saddle is that the cantle sits a little high (not really high) and is slightly cut back which is great for my high withered horse. Though it does sit high it doesn't seem like it would pinch another horse, but i can't be sure. Other things that I like about it is the great quality of the leather, comfort and depth of the seat which is deep enough to make you feel safe but not so that you're on your crotch. The seat itself is soft, padded and comfortable. Also it has a two-tone look, which I like, the padding on the knee flap(which is also soft and comfortable)and seat are slightly darker brown than other parts of the saddle. The colors coordinate nicely. I feel much more balanced in this saddle than my last, which was a collegiate.
Dislikes: The only thing that has bothered me about the saddle is that the billets are a little shorter than most saddles ( which seems to be the trend with Courbette saddles) it's not a big deal really. I have two girths and I can only use one now, the one with elastic on one end. Other than that I have no problems with this saddle.
Quality: I really like the quality of this saddle. Since I ordered off ebay I was worried it may not be as good as it looked but it was better. The leather is a great quality and it is very well flocked and padded. Also, all the stitching is very good. I have noticed that the padded under the seat (on top of horse's back) is a little narrow, however this saddle hasn't caused my horse any back pain (I have a very thin skinned and sensitive Thoroughbred), it actually has made him much happier.
Summary: Generally, I really love my new saddle and I'm very happy with Courbette as a manufacturer. I would DEFINATELY recomend this saddle to people who have a high and narrow withered horse, If your horse has a lower wither I would recommend that you try it on your horse before buying just to make sure it fits, because it does sit a little high. It is high quality saddle, comfortable enough for trails and pretty enough for shows.
