Purchase: I have a wide-bodied mutton-withered large pony and have been buying saddle after saddle trying to get one to fit. Finally ran across the Wintec Prostock that now takes an EXTRA WIDE gullet, so 'gave this a go' (as they say here in New Zealand). Since they cost $3300 NZ dollars, I was rapt to find one from Crazy Horse tack in Cape Cod, Mass. for under $1400 US dollars (a huge savings!). Crazy Jack was awesome in shipping promptly and assisting with the import process.
Likes: The equisuede material is wonderfully 'grippy', so I can ride in any pants (or even shorts) and feel secure. The saddle is incredibly comfortable. Two other friends bought this saddle at the same time for their large horses, and we are all thrilled with the saddle! We're all into Parelli Natural Horsemanship, and the saddle puts us on our balance point easily. We also all have young horses we will be starting, and riding in this saddle feels like having a 'seat belt' in a car. Very secure feeling! Has stayed in place on my pony even up and down big hills. I'm in LOVE with this saddle!
Dislikes: Hard to say anything 'bad' about this saddle! With my pony's conformation, have had a little issue only with 'side wobble' but playing with pads and getting that sorted out. Not an issue of the saddle itself, more just my pony's build.
Quality: Quality is excellent! The suedelike fabric is wonderful to ride in. And I don't have to worry about riding in the rain. Have it teamed with a Wintec Cair girth, which is a winning combination in my book.
Summary: Highly recommend this saddle to anyone interesting in trekking or trail riding. Or for any rider with a confidence issue. I had a serious horse accident 2 years ago and nearly gave up riding. This saddle makes me feel so secure and comfortable. I wake up daily excited to be riding!
