Purchase: Paid $2,400 for custom made saddle bought through a saddle fitter in Minnesota. I spent 2 yrs having 17 !!! saddles mailed to me to try out (some used; some demos) before finding the Solstice. I ride a large paso, so I ride with a long leg and sit as though I'm riding bareback. ONLY the Solstice allowed me to sit that way. The saddle fitter was an enormous help because she actually rode pasos for awhile and knew how I needed to sit. She's also a Society Master Saddle Fitter and could answer every single question I asked, plus she educated me on what constitutes a properly fit saddle (for the horse AND the rider).
Likes: I like everything! From the strong, supple buffalo leather on the saddle's leg flaps to the calfskin leather in the seat, kneerolls, and flocked panels, this saddle is meant to last a lifetime.
Dislikes: There is nothing I don't like. I did choose to switch out the brass hardware (the default hardware) for stainless steel hardware because I like the cleanliness of SS versus the goop that brass generates over time.
Quality: From the strong, supple buffalo leather on the saddle's leg flaps to the calfskin leather in the seat, kneerolls, and flocked panels, this saddle is meant to last a lifetime. Excellent workmanship (from Walsall, England). Saddle was made especially for me within a month's time, even though I ordered it with custom features.
Summary: Perfect all around saddle; no pressure points after riding all day in it. Amazing grip in the seat. My horse is happy too! I owe SO MUCH to the saddle fitter who matched me to this amazing Solstice!
