Purchase: I purchased this from Dover Saddlery last winter for around $145 plus shipping. The Weatherbeeta blanket I'd had before didn't hold up the way they once did and I had to replace it with something.
Likes: I chose this blanket partly because it's made of ballistic nylon - very strong and durable. This blanket is very well made, fits beautifully and the quality of workmanship is evident in the tight stitching, heavy duty hardware and nylon straps, and the thoughtful design such as the clip-and-dee closure at the chest.
Dislikes: Two things: the shoulder gusset seams on the inside of the blanket are rough and they caused a rub the first day my horse wore the blanket - he has twin nickle sized rubs on each shoulder. I had to put on a shoulder guard. It's not the fit - the size and fit is perfect for my horse.
Secondly, the tail flap is a dinky wimpy little thing. It could use a tail flap more like the kind Weatherbeeta uses-larger with more coverage.
Quality: Excellent except for the bumpy gusset seams.
Summary: I think this blanket could be improved by making those shoulder gusset seams smoother and by making the tail flap bigger so it offers more protection for the horse's hindquarters. If it can do that, this blanket could easily compete and possibly blow away the competition from other pricier name brand blankets that cost three times as much but don't (in my humble opinion) off three times the value.
