Purchase: The blanket was purchased from Woodlawn Saddlery about 5 years ago. As part of Woodlawn's barn staff I received a discount at the shop, therefor paid around $125.
Likes: Almost everything! The blanket still looks new and its waterproofing has held up very well-no guilt trips at having a soaked blanket & a wet, cold and unhappy horse. Love leg straps versus tail strap -no "butt to the wind, blanket over the ears" incidents. Best of all, the "old man" likes it - Nik is a 27 year old ThorobredX, who is not clipped, and loves his blanket.
Dislikes: It's not a matter of dislike, but would like to see a velcro strip at the chest to keep the blanket from coming open. I would also like a clip-type front closure instead of the double buckle (or a combination of the two). Cold fingers and an antsy-wanna-go-out NOW horse make the buckle a bit difficult.
Quality: Nik has not been able to "dismantle" this blanket. He is a quieter horse now (age has its benefits), so is not extremely hard on the blanket - I think he also knows a good thing when he sees it (treats and a warm "blankie")! Seams are all still in good order and the waterproofing is still good (a little NIK WAX was used).
Summary: All in all a good blanket for Nik, and I would buy another if it were still available. I would also buy one for his "brother", a 12 year old BelgianXQuarter Horse who is much harder on blankets - and requires a much larger size (84-87).
I give this blanket a high rating as it has held up better than others I have purchased (top brands).
