Purchase: I have two Norwegian Fjordhorses here in Florida and with pasture all year round they do spend a fair amount of time in the "diet pen" After a wet summer with plenty of green grass my boys were becoming rather chubby. Grazing muzzles weren't working out and they certainly didn't need more hay. Most ready-made horse treats were ruled out because of sugar content.
Hoping to combat my horses' propensity towards insulin resistance and after a recommendation from a friend, I purchased two "Nose-it"s. After putting peanuts (in the shell), some alfalfa cubes and other no-sugar treats in the "Nose-it!"s, I watched them roll the balls around for hours...perfect! Finally...an indestructible, safe horse toy! Tough enough for Fjords!They even roll the "Nose-it"s around when I forget to add treats ...moving around the paddock instead of standing at the gate begging for more food.
When I ride, the "one left behind" plays with the "Nose-it!" instead of incessantly whinnying. I used to feed hay for separation anxiety but now I just put some hay cubes in the "Nose-it!". And yes, they have finally lost the extra weight!
Likes: A completely safe horse toy/feeder and one that my dog cannot carry off or puncture.
Also, it doesn't roll or get wedged under the fence panels.
Dislikes: nothing
Quality: indestructible
Summary: Anyone who owns a horse(s)with behavioral problems due to boredom or tendency towards laminitis should have one of these.
