Model: Leather / Cordura Trail
Category: Trail Saddles
Purchase: I bought this at a local well known tack shop that carried a couple big name brands. I bought it to trail ride my, at the time, 9 year old Thoroughbred gelding, and keep as a training saddle. I paid $599.00 plus tax.
Likes: I like that it's lightweight and still has good, quality leather on it. It's not a very expensive saddle, so it makes a good trail saddle. The stirrup fenders don't bind up and are very comfortable. It's more secure then a lot of other western saddles. I like that the seat it rough-out for a secure seat.
Dislikes: The seat may seam like it needs broken in when you first buy it new. The more riding you do in it, the harder the seat gets!! I'm about to purchase a gel seat saver for it to compensate. I wish the front D-rings (for breast collar) were better made. Mine have not ripped off just yet, but it's showing some wear. It'd be nice if the saddle came in different colors. I hate the felt on the underside of the saddle!! I guess they had to cheap out somewhere instead of putting fleece. This saddle is just barely above Big Horn of a similar saddle. At least a Big horn is more comfy! Saddle is OVERPRICED for what you get!
Quality: The saddle don't seem too badly built. But for the price paid, it could be way better. It's an embarrassment to Reinsman, in my opinion. Overall, it's a good saddle, don't get me wrong, but it's a rip-off. Also needs a better seat design and more padding since it's a "trail" saddle. My rough-out seat is already fading fast, and stains easily - And that's only after 3 months of riding, if that!
Summary: This is a so-so trail saddle. It's built as well as any of it's competition, but lacking performance and seat comfort.
Usefulness Rating: 2.42857 out of 5.
