Rambo Micklem Multibridle
English Bridles
Manufacturer: Horseware Ireland
Model: Rambo Micklem Multibridle
Category: English Bridles
Purchase: I purchased this bridle on line from Adams Horse Supply for $139.00 with free shipping. It normally retails for around $165.00, so I feel I got a great deal.
I was looking for an all-in-one bridle that I could use to safely lunge as well as ride. This bridle also has a bitless feature which is a big bonus.
Likes: There are several things I love about this bridle.
This bridle is essentially three pieces of tack in one: A bridle, a lunge cavesson and a bitless bridle.
There is a D ring located on the front of the nose band to attach the lunge line. It makes the transition from lunging to riding a snap whether you are riding with a bit or going bitless.
Included with this bridle are bit snaps to keep the bit off the bars and to keep horses from getting their tongue over the bit. It also has an integrated flash strap which can be removed if you so choose.
The design of the bridle is ingenious. In constructing this bridle, the shape of the horses skull has been taken in to consideration as well as the delicate nerves of the face. The wide padded crown piece is ergonomically shaped to fit perfectly behind the ears and distributes pressure evenly unlike the narrow cavesson strap of traditional bridles. The integrated cheek pieces and nose band contour the the bones in the face to keep pressure off of nerves, projecting cheek bones and upper molars.
There are three alternative bitless options from mild to strong. You choose, depending on the training level of your horse. They all avoid the extreme damage to the molar teeth caused by standard bitless bridles.
It comes in either brown or black and the sizes range from Pony to OS/WB.
Dislikes: The only complaint I have about this bridle is I wish the nose band had padding. It is a personal preference of mine, but I prefer a bridle with a padded nose band.
Quality: Like all of the products produced by Horseware Ireland, the construction and quality of this bridle are impeccable. The eco-friendly vegetable tanned leather breaks in nicely and is comfortable for my horse whether lunging or riding and the brass hardware gives it a very classy appearance.
Summary: Bottom Line: This is an outstanding piece of equipment that every horse owner should have in their tack room. I have sold all my other bridles and only use my Micklem. My horse is more comfortable & relaxed, listens better and is happier all around. This bridle is definitely worth every penny.
