Manufacturer: Ericksen Saddle
Model: Mountain Saddle
Category: Trail Saddles
Purchase: Six years ago I got to ride in a Ericksen Saddle at a Poker Ride. At that time I went on a search to find one for myself. Two years later, I found Ericksen Saddlery and my wife ordered me one for Christmas. The saddle at that time was more than we wanted to spend, but we stepped up to the plate and ordered my saddle. After a short wait and traveling to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Convention in Reno to see my saddle on display, we took delivery of the Ericksen.
Likes: This saddle is built with the greatest craftsmanship and will stand up to anything that you can ride in. I have put many miles in the high county of Washington and even spent time in it pushing and sorting cattle. You will not find a stronger built, more durable saddle anywhere. I have had this saddle on many horses of different builds and have never had trouble with fit. There are double "D" rings in the front and back for any type of rigging. I have spent up to 14 hours straight in my Ericksen and never been sore at the end of the day.
Dislikes: I have no complaints with my Ericksen. Best built saddle for the high country rider.
Quality: The materials used to build an Ericksen Saddle are all extra heavy. You can look at the saddle and tell that real western pride and craftsmanship were put into the making of the saddle. I have gotten many comments on the rawhide lacing and Ericksen signature cutouts in the seat.
Summary: This saddle will surely be a family heirloom and passed down for many years. My advice is spend the money. You and your horse will appreciate the fit and durability. Nothing better than good old fashioned craftsmanship. I like my saddle so much I put my brand into the fender knowing it will never leave the family.
