Purchase: I had been on the search for a saddle that fit me and my horse. I rode a Tucker for years until my horse's back became so sore. We tried several different saddles (even a treeless). Some made me sore or the quality for the money was not there. Friends of mine have several Steele saddles so I tried theirs and demo'd one as well. I demo'd the Mountaineer english saddle and loved it. So I ordered one and had the guys at Steele change a few things on the saddle. Paid 2200 total, included a cedar tree that is lighter than the standard tree.
Likes: Oh my, where do I begin? LOVE IT!! First of all the customer service is wonderful, very accommodating. I asked to move the cantle back half inch, shorten the flaps, etc and no problem for them. It rides so well, very comfortable for my horse and me. I love the hardware on these saddles. When we trail ride we take lots of stuff. Sturdy enough to carry about anything. The leather is high quality, no squeaks in the leather. One thing that's important to me is, purchasing from a company that has been in business for years. You know they will be around in the future if you need any refurbishing. Can't say enough but was a excellent choice for me.
Dislikes: There is nothing I dislike. The price is high but it is worth every cent I spent on the saddle. You really get what you pay for.
Quality: The leather is of high quality. Soft in the seat and firm everywhere else. You get several color options which I like. Choices in hardware, I chose Stainless Steel. Construction is perfect, very well made. These saddles are made to order and that could take a month or more. Can be customized to your likes.
Summary: I love this saddle company and glad I went with them. I tried at least seven different saddles before I made my decision. You cannot go wrong when purchasing from the Steele Saddle Company.
