Purchase: I purchased these Fly Boots from State Line Tack
(( aka PetsMart)) for $21.95. I purchased them to reduce the amount of stomping my horse was doing due to flies on his legs, causing shifted shoes and splints on the horse's legs. I didnt want to spend alot of money on Cashel ones, so I purchased these in Black Plaid, a set of two.
Likes: They stay on the horse, they dont fall down on the horses legs because of plastic reinforcements. Fleece trim on the tops and sides, but not bottoms prevent rubs and sores. They reduce stomping, and protect the horses legs from fly bites, dirt, and dust. The titely woven Textilene material is easy to clean and mildew resistant - they wont get nasty in rain. It is air permiable, so sweat doesnt build up under the boots. The come up to just below the knee and continue all the way down to the coronet band, just over the top of the hoof, providing maximum protection.
Dislikes: Burrs could get stuck in the top fleece, but where I keep my horse the pastures are cleaned out of the burrs by management so that's not an issue. Hoof oil, if not dry before the boots are applied can get rubbed off onto the bottom of the boots, but comes off easily with bleach and rubbing alcohol, as stated by the tags on the boots. Other than that - I like these boots.
Quality: Tough Textilene, woven to keep flies, dirt, and mud off the horses legs. Soft fleece to prevent rubs on sides and tops of boots. Heavy duty nylon, and 3 Reinforced hook and loop velcro closures on the sides. Available in Mini or Horse sized, in the following Colors:
-Black Plaid
-Navy Plaid
-Plum Plaid
-Hunter Plaid
